Game takes diplomacy in a different manner. The game only really falls down in AI predicitability (better than it was but still easy to predict once you figure it) and traditional diplomacy. Micro can help increase the efficencies if you wish. The game is mostly Macro in both economy and combat. I believe people normally try to do one or the other and don't realise it doesn't work that way thereby leading to the belief it must be some super secret micro tactics. It requires relearing since its different to the norm, i.e you expand horizontally and then don't care to much bout those planets but also expand vertically on a few key planets you level up compared to most games where its one or the other as the way to go. Micromangement- There is minimal micromanagement, people always get that confused at first till they figure out how to setup their economy. Not just that oh sure select what goes in slot X, Y and Z its actual designing and making of your own ships. Only thing SoaSE had in customisation was their capital ships, this game you actually design the ship and when I say design I mean it. Sure the base idea and genre is but plays completely differently.Ĭustomisation and expandiability: If talking about mods, everything and anything, stuff that doesn't need custom scripting can be done in the ingame mod editor.Ĭustomisation in terms of ships and playstyle, a trillion times more. Completely different games, entirely different.
